PAWS: Gabby Gets it Together

I think this book was a really fun read. This book teaches you a lot about friendship and how friends come before money. I think some kids could relate to this book because the three friends aren’t allowed to get dogs or any other pet.

Hi Roshni! Can you tell us what this book is about?

PAWS: Gabby Gets it Together, written by Nathan Fairbairn is a graphic novel about a 10 year old girl named Gabby who starts a dog walking business with her friends. However, soon the business all falls apart and she is left walking crazy dogs on her own. Throughout the book, Gabby must get her friends back, get control of the crazy dogs and pull her business back together.

What do you like about this book?

My favourite part of the book occurs when Gabby’s friend went to the store and bought a whole lot of pickles. I thought it was really funny because she bought so many jars. I also thought that it was considerate of her to spend all her money to help Gabby.

What is your favourite part of the story and why?

This book had an intriguing hook and a cliffhanger that makes you want to read the rest of the series. I couldn’t put the book down. Though I don’t often enjoy graphic novels, I would like to continue reading this series. The illustrations, by Michele Assarasakorn, and story details made you feel like you were in the character’s shoes.

Why should other kids read this book?

If I could ask the author any question it would be:  how did you think of this story? In conclusion, this book was an amazing, exciting and interesting read.
