Shari Lapena worked as a lawyer and as an English teacher before turning to writing fiction. She has written two award-winning literary novels. The Couple Next Door, her suspense debut, was a New York Times bestseller, a 2016 WHSmith Book of the Year (UK), and a Globe Best Book of 2016. Her books have been described as terrifying psychological noir, gripping, full of thrilling plot twists, “the best white-knuckle ride of the year” (Daily Mail), and “unputdownable” (C.L.Taylor). Shari will be reading from her next thriller at EMWF 2017, A Stranger in the House, which comes out in August 2017. Shari grew up reading Agatha Christie, Josephine Tey, Daphne Du Maurier, and Patricia Highsmith. She lives in Toronto.
